Summer Activities

These are our summer activities that did not receive the attention that they deserved. The first series of pictures is of our Summer Olympics put on by Grandma Loveland. Every child represented a different country and we had many events in which the children participated. Also we took food from various countries for the athletes to eat after the were done competing.
The next series of pictures were from Kambry and Peyton's combined birthday party. It was my turn to be behind the camera, but it was a blast watching both girls rip through all the presents. It was a ton of fun and a lot of people showed up to celebrate the girl's birthdays.
The last series of pictures were of our day at Hogle Zoo. Kurtis was there too, but he was behind the camera this time. The kids loved seeing all the animals. Kambry and Kanyon were interested in everything, but Peyton discovered GIRAFFES. She wanted to look at them for as long as possible. So.....we bought her a stuffed giraffe from the gift shop, it's name is Betsy, don't ask why, I don't know. We got Kambry a large frog, no name. We bought Kanyon a lion because he really wanted to see the lions, but there were not any to see. He named the lion Lambert, like the old Disney cartoon. Anyway, I apparently was too busy to give these pictures and stories the individual posts that they deserved in the summer, so I instead did it now. Hope you like them.

Healing Hands

Peyton's hands are healing! We could not be more greatful that her injuries were not more serious. She has been quite the little trooper the whole time, with all the hand washings, wrappings, cleaning off of dead skin, not being able to feed or drink herself, she was frustrated at times, but she put up with a lot. Her left hand has not had to be wrapped since Monday and we can stop wrapping the right hand today.

Peyton's Booboos

As you can imagine Peyton does not like her hands being covered up, and being unable to use them. She is dealing with it, but it will probably be another week before we can stop putting bandages on the left hand and a few days more than that before the right hand won't have to be bandaged up.

Insignificant Dangers

We had a serious accident in our family on Monday, September 15th. Our little Peyton burned her hands. We were at my in-laws and I went outside to put one of the kids I babysit in a stroller, I had left the door open and Peyton went to crawl out, but she stopped with both hands on the metal plating on the bottom of the door frame. This particular door frame faces south, which puts it in the sun for 10 hours of the day. It was 2 pm when Peyton rested her hands on the plating, when it started to burn in stead of lifting her hands up she began screaming. It only took about one half hour for the blisters to cover her hands completely. After about an hour the blisters on her right palm popped, we took her up to our doctor immediately and the blistered skin was cut away, then her hands were frosted with burn cream, and wrapped with gauze. These are what her hands looked like on Thursday, September 18th. The doctor said they look healthy and that they have plenty of viable skin, her hands should heal but the skin will be sensitive for a while, and scars may be visible for a long time. Our little Peyton will be okay, her hands will heal, scars will go away, but knowing that something so insignificant could cause so much pain...well that will not soon be forgotten.
